Nancy's grand entrance

Speaker Pelosi's grandiose entry into the Capitol this morning for the final health care bill festivities was Democratic stagecraft at its finest.  From Fox News:

House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson, D-Conn., came out to the Cannon Capitol building stakeout with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., of civil rights fame and who was heckled Saturday with racial slurs.

Lewis said that they will "walk across the bridge" just as he did when he was beaten by Alabama State Troopers on Bloody Sunday in 1965 when they tried to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge.

Then Pelosi came out with a gigantic gavel. It's the same gavel that Michigan Democratic Congressman John Dingell's father used to gavel down the Medicare vote, also in 1965.

Pelosi, arm-in-arm with Lewis and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and others walked out of the building, across Independance Avenue and toward the Capitol amid a sea of protesters. It had the feel of a civil rights march - as cops held back very vocal crowds and reporters.

Nancy Pelosi doesn't hesitate to use Georgia Rep. John Lewis as a prop, and doesn't shy away from his comparison of today's health care vote to "Bloody Sunday" in Selma, Alabama in 1965.  I wonder if any of my readers can answer this question.  Has Nancy Pelosi ever actually been to Georgia or Alabama?  Inquiring minds want to know.
